Meet Our Staff

Denise Matthews

Office Administrator & Treasurer

Denise has been the FBC office administrator/church treasurer for over 35 years.  Both she and her husband, Gayle, came from a Catholic background, and joined First Baptist in 1977. She has seen many changes in the church from personnel and programs to major construction projects. She has been married to Gayle for 50 years and has two daughters and 5 grandchildren from ages 7-20. Denise has held many positions on the different boards in the church and has had enormous pleasure working with others and making many friendships within the church family. She considers herself blessed and hopefully has been a blessing to others. For 6 years, Denise, along with her husband Gayle had a family hobby of drag racing. Both of them competed on the race track and would bring the whole family along!

Jordana Hickman

Administrative Assistant

Jordana joined the FBC staff in 2021. Along with being a quick learner and adding a bright smile to the church office, Jordana was added to the staff to keep Denise from talking to -- and answering -- herself. Jordana and her husband, Andrew, have been attending FBC Richmond since 2019 and have become committed members and avid Life Group attendees. In her spare time, Jordana loves spending time with her husband, renovating their home, and watching movies with their Goldendoodles, Copper, Aspen, and Jack.

Michael Pepper

Custodian

Mike has been the custodian at FBC since 2019. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Mike, he is a humble and joyful soul. He is passionate about knowing the Lord more deeply, and worshipping Him. He sees the beauty of God in all of creation, which leads him to enjoy an active lifestyle such as riding his bike on the Cardinal Greenway. In Mike's free time, aside from exercise, you will find him reading, serving, or researching a new joke. His desire is to live a life of youthfulness and compassion for others. It wouldn't be an interaction with Mike unless you walked away with a riddle or joke, so, what time did God create Adam?
